Anoka County Workhouse Overview

The Anoka County Workhouse is operated through Anoka County Corrections and Community Corrections. It sits on the Rum River Human Services Center campus in the Vail Building and serves a different role from the jail. The jail receives new arrests and pretrial detainees. The Workhouse houses sentenced adults who meet minimum-security placement criteria, including men and women sentenced in Anoka County and eligible out-of-county referrals.

Work Release, also called Huber, is a core Workhouse function. A court may authorize it, but Workhouse staff still review eligibility, proof of employment, and program rules. Unemployed residents may be assigned to supervised community work crews and may receive a daily stipend if they remain violation-free and are assigned. Failure to report on the ordered date can trigger a warrant.

The correct search route is the Anoka County Inmate Locator. The county states that the locator covers both the Jail and the Workhouse for current custody and recent releases. Use the DOC locator only after a person has moved into state prison custody. The Workhouse remains a county minimum-security facility, not Minnesota Correctional Facility - Lino Lakes. Anoka County Workhouse Money

Workhouse finances are not the same as jail bond. Work Release residents pay a per-day fee and must pay the first week plus an intake fee at intake. The research also states that out-of-county sentenced residents pay a daily rate plus an administration fee. The county pages say Workhouse fees are paid by money order only, while commissary deposits can use money order or Inmate Canteen depending on the type of funds.

Anoka County Workhouse Programs

The Workhouse has more specific published programming than the jail. It offers GED or high school equivalency instruction, religious services, chemical-dependency support groups, supervised work crews, Work Release or Huber, and Change By Design substance-abuse treatment. Change By Design is a collaboration between Anoka County Corrections and Riverplace Counseling Centers for correctional clients with chronic substance-abuse issues.

PREA information is also specific. The Workhouse states a zero-tolerance policy for sexual behavior, harassment, or misconduct involving residents or staff. That reporting route is separate from ordinary resident lookup, but it belongs with Workhouse conditions because it gives families a named way to raise safety concerns.

Anoka County Workhouse Records

Workhouse residents can appear in the same county locator as jail inmates, but the meaning of the record is different. A Workhouse record is more likely to involve a sentenced local commitment, Huber approval, report rules, or work crew status. A new arrest record at the jail, by contrast, is tied to booking, first appearance, bond, and pending charge review. Reading the housing agency and release fields helps avoid that mix-up.
